Massage is a very effective technique for controlling pain – head, back, neck and shoulder pain all benefit from massage. It is also beneficial for relieving pain associated with arthritis, injuries, or even recent surgery.

– Massage confuses the body’s pain signals
– Massage calls up the body’s natural painkillers ie endorphins
– Massage relieves mental stress and anxiety

Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage uses a variety of stroking, kneading, pressure and flowing movements over the body to treat and prevent a huge variety of complaints, or can simply be used for deep relaxation. It is the perfect treatment to boost overall vitality and promote a sense of calm.

It is a deeply relaxing massage designed for tired, stressed and aching muscles and has many benefits including:
– promoting an increased oxygen flow in the blood whilst releasing toxins from the muscles
– stimulating the skin and nervous system and soothing the nerves at the same time
– helps to reduce stress and tension both emotionally and physically

Deep Tissue Massage

Used to release chronic muscle tension through slower strokes and more direct deep pressures body work, Deep Tissue massage aims to help release muscle holding patterns and to stretch and lengthen tissue thereby correcting poor postural patterns.
There are many benefits to deep tissue work including:
– helping to loosen muscle tension
– aiding the release of toxins from muscles
– allowing blood and oxygen to circulate properly throughout the body
– helps in increasing flexibility and helping to heal old injuries

Deep Tissue massage focuses on more specific areas of the body and during your treatment you can expect the use of fingers, thumbs, fists and elbows to be used to apply the needed pressure.

Sports Massage

Sports massage is used for anybody with a postural or injury related muscular pain. It is a specific massage for injuries, general muscle rehabilitation or just an extremely  effective treatment for loosening tight muscles. Pain relief, increased movement and flexibility with alleviation of stiffness and fatigue are just some of the benefits of regular Sports Massage, while for  really stiff muscles, Sports Massage can be combined with Hot Stones Massage.

 Ayurvedic Face and Neck Massage

This traditional Ayurvedic face-lift massage is a specific facial massage lasting one hour, that works the ‘Marma’ or energy points of the face, head and neck.  It is a superb method for keeping the wrinkles away and leaving the skin with a smooth texture and a healthy glow.

According to Ayurveda (the traditional Medical system of India); there are 108 marma or energy points in the body, each relating to a specific organ and function of the body.  Of these 37 are situated in the head and neck region, the location of our 5 senses – eyes, nose, tongue, ears and skin.  These marma points are points of connection between the physical body and subtle energetic bodies. In health, energy should flow in an uninterrupted fashion through these marma points, although with stress and illness, energy tends to become blocked causing premature aging.  Hence the emphasis of this massage is to free the points of blockages such that energy can flow in an uninterrupted fashion through them.  This massage relaxes the sensory organs and relaxes the mind and soul.
